Legislatures and the public utility commissions of many states have opened retail competition for electricity supply. The measures allow consumers of electricity to choose their supplier of electricity, (generation), while the delivery of the power, (transmission and distribution), will still be the responsibility of the incumbent, (regulated), power company. Deregulation of the electricity supply market is in many ways very similar to the deregulation which occurred many years ago in the long-distance telephone service market.

Consumers now have the power to choose an electricity supplier of their own liking. The single most important consideration in this new deregulated market is that there are material differences between the various electricity supply products offered by the competitive service providers and especially vs. the standard offering made by the incumbent utility from which you have purchased power historically. Some of these differences amount to matters of price, while other differences are much more complex, having to do with reliability of service, etc. We've built our business on understanding the opportunities and avoiding the pitfalls associated with the changing market conditions in the deregulated states and we are prepared to help you exercise your power to choose a competitive electricity supplier in the most intelligent way possible.

The purpose of deregulation is to foster competition among electricity suppliers with the medium and long-term goal of combating the high prices maintained by government-sanctioned regional monopolies over the past decade. There are signs that deregulation of the electricity supply market is working as designed. For example, over the past 24 months there have been more applications to commence construction of power plants across the United States than there have been over the course of the past ten years combined.

You can earn free Electricity and Gas* FOR LIFE from Ambit Energy by referring your family and friends to our service. By far, the greatest buzz generated in the energy market is the announcement of free electricity and gas. No company can compete with this program. Ambit Energy has introduced the Customer Referral Bill Credit Program on top of the Customer Referral Travel Program.
How does it work? When a customer referrers 15 Ambit electric/gas customers, Ambit will take the average amount of the bills referred and credit that amount back to the referrer’s account! Ex: The average bill of the 15 customers referred is $250, the referrer’s bill is $300, then the referrer would only be charged $50 for their monthly electricity bill. If the 15 customer average is $250 and the referrers bill is $250 then the referrer would have a bill for $0.
There is a 120 day clock from the time a person becomes a customer to reach 15 referred customers. To keep the bill credit rolling month after month the referrer must maintain 15 customers. It is recommended that you get a few more than 15 customers to ensure the bill credit is given in case a customer is lost through attrition. This credit can be applied every month, as long as those 15 customers remain active and pay their bills sometime within the 30 days prior to the date the referrer's bill is generated.
In Illinois and New York, the credit applies only to the energy supply portion of the bill (the delivery charges are not included). Illinois and New York customers will receive a check in the mail instead of a credit on their bills. *Gas service is not available in Texas
